News 28th March 2007
In spite of our best efforts and
all of the councillors admitting that there were serious problems with
the application, the Planning Control Committee decided to vote in
favour of the Redrow application 6-1. Rushmoor consequently have
decided to place the necessity housing above the history of the area
and the inevitable damage to the ecology.
500 new properties
will now be built on the old RAE site, with an increase in traffic
congestion at the Sulzers Roundabout, Pinehurst Roundabout and Meudon
Avenue. All those people who think we were NIMBYs will think again when
they can't get to B&Qs and ASDA because of all the congestion
(which the planning department said would run smoother when there are
even more cars using it!).
I
also feel sorry for the people of Marrowbook Lane who will have to put
up with even greater heatwave stenches from the waste site with the increased
use from the extra 500 houses and no intention to improve the site.
The whole of Farnborough will
regret it when up to 500 new homes will be competing with them for
Doctors, Dentists, Schoolplaces and every other oversubscribed amenity.
I also feel sorry for England's only post-war grade-list 1
building which may now be put under threat by the inevitably aggressive construction work.
Funnily enough, I even feel sorry for the poor fools who will buy these
properties, who will regret it when the airshow planes dance on their
roofs, as well as when the 24 foot wind-tunnel is
re-commissioned, which the PCC were mistakenly informed would
require planning permission...
I don't know what planet the PCC are on, but it is not Earth! Returning
a building to its original use does not require planning permission, so
the 24 foot tunnel can be re-commissioned and run, and there is sweet
FA that the council or Redrow can do to stop it and the buyers will
regret it ever after.
