Redrow letter day! It seems that all the Pinehurst residents have been invited to a 'stakeholder' meeting on the 28th June. The registrant of this site had an extra one (read them both here).

Just so that no one is in any doubt about how much the trees will protect Pinehurst Cottages from the view of the hotel, here is a mock up to scale of the hotel, as it will be viewable from Blocks G & H:

Well, the 'Public Exhibition' has been and gone. This is the new concept:
The planned De Vere 'Village' Hotel

The Development Manager was right, the size and architecture is very different

it is much much bigger!

The footprint of the hotel is approximately 40% larger
than the concept building shown in our first report of this venture
Look at those wonderful car parks!

The darker area at the town side is the six storey section.

Received today, this interesting missive:

Subject:  De Vere and Slough Estates - Farnborough Business Park -  Exhibition 24th May
Date:  Tue, 23 May 2006 09:54:38 +0100
I have noted the recent news piece on your website regarding  the public
exhibition to be held at the Farnborough Business Park offices on 24th
May, the organisation of which I have been closely involved with.

Unfortunately a couple of your facts are not correct, and you should be
aware that

1.      The distribution of approximately 100 letters was undertaken to
the whole of the Pinehurst Cottages area. Last Thursday in an effort to
ensure certainty of delivery we hand delivered letters to all residents
of Pinehurst Cottages. The majority of the letters were addressed
personally. In respect of 30 of the addresses we did not have details of
the occupier and so have addressed them "Dear Resident".

2.      At the exhibition De Vere representatives will have images and
drawings showing the full details of the hotel proposal. The image shown
on your website news piece is based on an outdated conceptual master
plan for the Park and shows a previous office proposal. Although the
building location is broadly correct, the shape, size and architecture
of the De Vere proposal is very different.

We will be very pleased to explain the proposals tomorrow, so that
residents can base their understanding on the latest scheme

While this site strives to portray accurate information, on occasions, there may be errors which will be corrected as soon as they are discovered. The reason for attending the meeting on the 24th is of course to get the latest information. Until then however, we have only the information which is publicly available to go on, and since the image depicted on this news page was scanned from a brochure which was posted through the door at the same time as the invite, it was not unreasonable of us to assume that the document featured the latest information. We will correct this when images and adequate reference material is made available to us.

The distribution of 100 letters to the residents of Pinehurst Cottages is laudable, however, to date, upon questioning the residents of the 72 houses (yes, 8 rows of 9 houses equals 72) in Pinehurst Cottages, only five acknowledged that they have received the invite.

Regardless of this, we await tomorrow's developments with anticipation.

Thursday 17th May:

Some of the residents of Pinehurst Cottages (well, about three actually) were sent letters inviting them to a "Farnborough Business Park Information Day" on the 24th May. This Information Day is to tell us about the wonderful six story hotel that they are going to build for us at the end of Pinehurst Avenue.

We suppose that telling three people about it constitutes the obligatory 'Stakeholder' consultancy!

So, all you stakeholders out there... the Information Day is at the Slough Marketing Suite off the Sulzer Roundabout from 3pm to 8pm.

This is what they want to tell us about...

David Clifford, Councillor for Empress ward has successfully had a tree order placed on all trees on the Farnborough Business Park site:

Tree Preservation Order 422 (TPO 422): Following my request Rushmoor have
approved TPO 422 covering all trees within Farnborough Business Park, a
total of about 150 trees, of which about 50 or one third would be destroyed
by the proposed development. This is backed by Local Plan Policy ENV 13
which protects all trees worthy of retention.
Many thanks David.
